BaghShater Residential Complex

Individual Project

Tehran, 2012

Located on a steep slope in the old BaghShater neighborhood of Tehran, this fifty-unit residential complex is designed to blend the city’s residential character with the intimacy of its surrounding rural context, all while offering views of the nearby mountainsides.

The proposed layout and added functions -such as a playground, shopping center, gym, and library- enhance the relationship between the existing neighborhood fabric and the new sequence of buildings and public spaces. The arrangement of building volumes, windows, and terraces follows the natural path of light and the mountain views, creating spaces that evoke the nostalgic character of the old neighborhood. A pedestrian network weaves through the complex, reinforcing its coherence and sense of place. The BaghShater complex consists of fifty residential units: thirty two-bedroom, ten three-bedroom, and ten one-bedroom apartments.
